Responsible for performing a variety of imaging procedures while observing patient safety protocol.Functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.

Qualifications

  • Certified as a General XD-Ray Machine Operator (GXMO). 
  • Licensed as a Registered Radiologic Technologist by the State of Ohio and registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities:

  • ·Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients
  • ·Responsible for safe handling of equipment.
  • ·Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic and/or fluoroscopic examinations.
  • ·Assesses patient’s understanding of process and informed consent of invasive procedures.
  • ·Assesses, evaluates and informs physician of changes in patient’s condition during exam.
  • ·Works under the direction of the Radiologist at all times.
  • ·Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure.
  • ·Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
  • ·Able to perform special radiographic examinations requiring special equipment and procedures such as: intravenous pyelograms, intravenous cholangiograms, hysterosalpingograms, tomograms, cholangiography, arthrograms, myelograms, hip winnings and vascular procedures in surgery
  • ·Programs portable or stationary x-ray machines and produces radiographs for a variety of examinations.
  • ·Sends all information to PACS efficiently and effectively.
  • ·Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
  • ·Assists in maintaining basic records and reports.
  • ·Assists in maintaining files.
  • ·Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel.
  • ·Takes x-ray call and works the appropriate weekend according to monthly schedule after the closing of the regular department hours.
  • ·Works required Holiday(s).
  • ·Is acquainted with local fire and safety regulations.
  • ·Must possess knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of the other departments
  • ·Practices continuing Infection Control with proper equipment and room cleaning, in order to provide a safe environment for all patients, at all times.
  • ·Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and JC regulations related to the Radiology Services Department and, as appropriate, to the facility.
  • ·Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • ·Wears identification and dosimeter while on duty
  • ·Participates in CQI activities and clerical responsibilities, as needed
