Job Summary

  • The Nursing House Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the house wide nursing departments within the healthcare facility
  • This role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, compliance with healthcare regulations, and effective management of nursing staff
  • The Nursing House Supervisor acts as a liaison between nursing staff, patients, and administration, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment

Essential Functions

  • Supervision and Leadership: Provide leadership and supervision to nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. Ensure staff adherence to policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Patient Care: Oversee patient care activities, ensuring that all patients receive high-quality, compassionate care. Address patient concerns and resolve issues promptly
  • Staff Management: Manage house wide staffing and provide ongoing training and development opportunities for nursing staff
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, including state and federal laws, accreditation standards, and facility policies
  • Quality Improvement: Implement and monitor quality and infection control improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and operational efficiency
  • Communication: Serve as a point of contact for nursing staff, patients, and families. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all parties
  • Emergency Response: Coordinate and manage emergency response activities within the facility, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and staff
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and nursing documentation
  • Clinical: May need to provide direct clinical care to patients
  • Other: Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Ability to practice nursing as described by the following definition: “The diagnosis and treatment of human responses to actual or potential health alterations.”
  • Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including but not limited to administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients and/or significant others
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass competencies for this position
  • Involves discretion and independent action within prescribed limits

Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) or bachelor’s degree in a health care/business related field preferred

Licenses/Certification:

  • Licensure in the State of Ohio as a Registered (RN)
  • Required: BLS, ACLS
  • Strongly Preferred: PALS

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a first-line charge nurse coupled with three (3) years clinical nursing experience preferred
