Watertown Regional Medical Center is seeking a Lead Pharmacy Technician

Full Time - 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE) / Monday thru Friday with a weekend rotation

The Lead Pharmacy Technician / Inventory Specialist ensures availability of medications for the care of patients throughout the organization, oversees all medication related purchasing and inventory control related functions, provides supervision for the day-to-day distributive services of the pharmacy through effective productivity under the direct supervision of pharmacist(s), the Lead Pharmacist/ Clinical Coordinator and the Director of Pharmacy.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: the oversight of medication acquisition, storage, security, preparation, and distribution.Responsible for fostering an environment where pharmacy services are provided in an accurate, appropriate, and timely manner.Demonstrates a high level of competence, professionalism, and customer service.All job duties shall be performed in accordance with all applicable State and Federal laws, applicable regulatory bodies, and policies and procedures of the health system and pharmacy department.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary education such as Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree, preferred.Successful completion of an ASHP-accredited
  • Pharmacy Technician Program, preferred.
  • PTCB certification, required –must be obtained within six months in this position.
  • Two years of experience as a hospital pharmacy technician, required.
  • Basic reading and math skills.
  • Clerical and record keeping skills.
  • Distribution, receiving and stocking procedures.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills and behaviors.
  • Follow procedures related to position accountabilities.
  • Inventorying and ordering procedure knowledge.
  • Knowledge of safety control hospital procedures.
  • Learns and applies analytical and participative problem solving techniques.
  • Basic Medical terminology understanding.
  • Order entry skills.
  • Software skills - word processing and spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationship with department staff.
  • Leadership and Quality Improvement skills
