Job Summary

The Director of Primary and Specialty Clinic Operations is responsible for providing leadership and operational oversight of assigned primary and specialty care clinics within the medical group. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Physician Services, this position supervises office leaders, ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, optimizes operational efficiency, and cultivates strong relationships with staff, providers, and leadership. The Director ensures alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and service excellence standards.

Essential Functions

  • Provide direct supervision to assigned clinic office leaders and oversee day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure effective resource utilization, staffing, provider efficiency, and service excellence.
  • Monitor clinic compliance with mandatory training, in-services, and regulatory standards.
  • Analyze operational and budgetary performance, identify variances, and implement improvement plans.
  • Coach, mentor, and evaluate clinic leaders to promote professional development.
  • Collaborate with Medical Group leadership to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.
  • Manage scheduling for providers and staff, ensuring coverage and optimal patient flow.
  • Oversee supply orders and inventory management.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for resolving patient or staff concerns and incident reporting.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships across clinics and departments.
  • Assist in business planning and expense management.
  • Support new provider onboarding and orientation.
  • Lead and support process improvement initiatives and departmental projects.
  • Demonstrate adaptability, initiative, and commitment to organizational values.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Knowledge of clinic operations, healthcare regulations, and EHR systems.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and related computer applications.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and lead through change.
  • Commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s Degree in healthcare or related field (Required) And
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration or related field (Preferred) Or
  • Equivalent Combination of Education and Experience totaling 4 years of education and experience (May be Considered)

Licenses/Certifications

  • Other: Certified Medical Practice Exec (CMPE) or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience

  • 5+ years Previous management or supervisory experience in a medical office setting (Required) And
  • Prior Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) (Preferred) And
  • Prior Experience that demonstrates strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills (Required)
