Job Summary

The Clinic Clinical Support I provides direct patient care and clinical support services in an outpatient clinic setting under the supervision of licensed providers. Responsibilities include assisting with patient assessments, preparing patients for examinations, supporting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, maintaining medical records, ensuring patient flow, and administering basic care. This role supports quality patient outcomes through effective communication, education, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Essential Functions

  • Provide basic patient care activities including monitoring vital signs, recording intake and output, and assisting with activities of daily living.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in condition to licensed nursing staff or providers.
  • Prepare patient charts and assist with maintaining complete and accurate medical records.
  • Escort patients to examination rooms, obtain and record vital signs, and prepare patients for provider evaluation.
  • Assist with specimen collection and laboratory procedures as directed.
  • Support providers during examinations and procedures by preparing supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and provide courteous, professional interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations and patient care.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, and team members.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and patient safety standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Competency in patient age-specific needs across the lifespan.
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently during shift.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs with assistance as needed.
  • Frequent use of hands for data entry, patient care tasks, and equipment handling.
  • Ability to hear and communicate clearly.
  • Clinical outpatient setting.
  • Frequent exposure to patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Possible exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, and other clinical hazards with appropriate protective measures provided.
  • Requires adherence to safety and infection control policies.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent – Required

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within time frame required by facility policy

Experience

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred
