Job Summary

  • Under the general supervision of the Director of Women & Children’s Services, the RN Coordinator – Women’s Services provides leadership and coordination for unit operations, staffing, quality assurance, and performance improvement initiatives
  • This role supports the achievement of departmental and hospital-wide goals while ensuring high-quality patient care
  • The coordinator serves as a clinical resource and mentor to staff and may provide direct patient care as needed
  • This position requires strong communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills in a dynamic and collaborative clinical environment

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates staff scheduling, educational and development activities, and performance evaluations
  • Identifies and resolves issues impacting delivery of clinical care and patient flow
  • Performs and supports quality assurance/quality improvement (QA/QI) activities within the department
  • Serves as a liaison and clinical resource for staff, patients, families, and external providers
  • Ensures departmental compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission requirements
  • Collaborates with leadership in managing the department budget and operational resources
  • Provides direct patient care as needed within Women’s Services scope of practice
  • Supports a team culture based on trust, accountability, and open communication
  • Participates in or leads special projects, committees, or initiatives related to Women’s Services

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Demonstrates ability to manage and prioritize in high-stress situations
  • Effective communication and leadership skills with team-oriented approach
  • Knowledge of clinical standards, regulations, and best practices for Women’s Services
  • Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) and clinical software
  • Ability to mentor and educate clinical staff and support team development
  • Competency in applying the nursing process for patient assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for prolonged periods
  • Requires ability to lift and/or move patients and equipment, occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Requires ability to see, hear alarms, communicate effectively, and respond promptly to emergencies
  • Hospital-based environment with exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and various clinical hazards
  • Frequent interaction with patients, families, staff, and interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced clinical setting

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current RN License in applicable state required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 90 days of hire
  • Fetal Monitoring or Inpatient Obstetrics certification preferred

Experience

  • Prior experience as an RN in obstetrics required
  • Pediatric RN experience preferred
