Job Summary

The position is responsible for the day-to-day management of dialysis services at one or more Long Term Acute Care hospitals. The dialysis Program Director is responsible and accountable for recruitment, selection, and performance of the dialysis team. He or she is also responsible and accountable for the quality of the dialysis services, excellent patient care, and the prudent management of all capital dedicated to dialysis work.

Essential Functions

  • Program Manager has full supervisory responsibilities for the dialysis staff. Responsibilities include recruitment, selection, on-boarding, training, and performance management of the team. Working under the direct guidance of the CCO and CEO for the respective hospital, the Program Manager will provide employee performance appraisals and recommend compensation changes. Plan and administer programs to ensure completion of annual mandatory in-services, compliance, and competencies for self and the respective team(s).
  • Know, understand, implement, follow, and communicate with staff all ScionHealth employment policies and procedures, awards, and other opportunities within company and foster a positive work environment. Provide work direction for department staff. Determine staffing plans that promote the most effective use of all staff; ensure coverage during staff absences. Assist as individual care giver as needed.
  • Develop and conduct educational programs to keep staff up to date on new laws and regulations impacting work, ScionHealth policy and procedures, and other information necessary to maintain staff knowledge of department processes and goals. Know, understand, follow, communicate, and implement safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Assist District Director of Dialysis Services in designing and implementing dialysis services.
  • Assist District Director of Dialysis Services in analyzing operating metrics; identify areas of improvement based on the analysis.
  • Assist Chief Clinical Office and/or CEO with dialysis related reports and projects.
  • Work as an individual care giver when needed.
  • Participate with Physicians and Nurse Practitioners to ensure suitable treatment modality for all patients, i.e. transplantation, dialysis, peritoneal dialysis. Ensure that policies and procedures are in place and followed for continuity of planned care when patients are transferred to other facilities.
  • Ensure proactive, high-quality communication with physicians, nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care.
  • Review payroll reports for compliance with company and regulatory agency policies.
  • Revie patient and treatment charge reports to ensure ethical, accurate, and timely submission of charges for facility. Ensure accurate monthly charges and documentation is submitted to the Controller.
  • Review, authorize and monitor expenditure reports for assigned facility in accordance with company policy and procedure. Prepare and submit budget exceptions to the Chief Clinical Officer.
  • Ensure that each unit meets all internal and external Standards of Conduct as well as all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with state Worker Compensation and OSHA safety training requirements. Implement compliance with ScionHealth policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations for patient care and services (The Joint Commission/CMS or other governing agencies.)
  • Ensure compliance with state or federal regulations of the Injury Prevention and Safety Training Program.

  • Position may require overnight travel, up to 50 percent, if assigned to more than one hospital.
  • Approximate percentage of time required to travel: 100%
  • Must read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Must have good and regular attendance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

$108, 805 - $135,285 / annually


Qualifications

Education

  • Nursing Diploma Program or associate degree required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

Licenses/Certification

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
  • BLS required.
  • National Dialysis certification preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of one year experience in management/clinical leadership role.
  • Five or more years of nephrology nursing experience preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills in Microsoft office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
