The Dialysis RN guides patient-centered care by Joint Commission, physician orders, nursing and departmental guidelines, and other regulatory agencies.
Dialysis Duties/Competencies
Performs ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre-, during, and post-treatment for assigned patients and documents in the patient medical record, adjusts or modifies the treatment plan as indicated, and notifies inpatient program manager, appropriately credentialed physicians, patient's primary nurse and others as may be indicated.
Ensures nephrology physician orders for assigned patients are received and entered in the medical record.
Enters all treatment data into the designated medical record thoroughly, accurately, and promptly.
Performs the implementation, administration, monitoring, and documentation of patient's response to prescribed intradialytic transfusions, including appropriate notification of adverse reactions to physician and appropriate blood supplier.
Promotes infection control, equipment, and environmental safety.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Graduate of a school of Nursing with a current State license
Minimum: Associate Degree or Diploma Required
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) - within 30 days of hire
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - required within 6 months of hire and continuously thereafter.
Licenses: Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
