Histology Tech

Preparation of laboratory specimens for microscopic evaluation by the pathologist through the use of microtomy, histochemistry, special staining and other appropriate techniques.

Exception: Approved under the ASCP Grandfather clause in Histology

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Licenses:HT(ASCP), HT(NCA), or equivalent registry and meets CMS and GDHR requirements X (Must receive within 120 days of hire)
Minimum Work Experience
Six (6) months of histology laboratory training preferred. Additionally, one (1) year of on-the-job training withfive years of experience can substitute Associate's degree.
