Palestine Regional Medical Center (PRMC) provides two facilities: PRMC Hospital and PRMC's West Campus, including behavioral health. For over 60 years, the citizens of Anderson and surrounding counties have depended on the healthcare facilities in Palestine. Serving approximately 100,000 people, PRMC provides 150 beds with a highly skilled staff of healthcare professionals. A full range of comprehensive care is offered, including the latest in diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Description

Job Summary

  • Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice

Essential Functions

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment
  • Documents patient care given
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff through continuous monitoring and intervention

  • Participates in group projects and staff meetings with suggestions that enhance the work environment and increase productivity

  • Follows established hospital and unit specific policies
  • Exhibits willingness to resolve problems as they arise

Qualifications

License/Certifications:

  • Licenses: RN
  • X Basic Life Support (BLS) - within 30 days of hire
  • Handle with Care required within 30 days of hire
  • Certification in Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training within 30 days of hire- required (Handle with Care)

Work Experience: 

  • Minimum of 1 year of patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of previous experience in behavioral health unit preferred

Skills: 

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
