Description

The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for total care of assigned clients in the respective unit. This nurse is responsible for the processes of Triage, assessment, reassessment, implementation of care, complete and accurate documentation of care, and evaluation of care. The nurse initiates health care training and education to the client/family as required while supporting and fostering the goals of Parkview Regional Hospital and the Department of Nursing. The Registered Nurse demonstrates awareness of ongoing needs of the unit and provides leadership and direction to other team members in maintaining optimal standards of nursing care. The position is accountable for the supervision of other licensed nursing personnel for assigned units. The position requires flexibility and scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to insure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of Parkview Regional Hospital on all units. The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing care to all of the patient population with consideration of age-specificity and diagnosis. 

Blood Borne Pathogen Exposure level/Airborne pathogen exposure level

Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. All procedures or other job related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category 1 tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures are required for every employee engaged in Category 1 tasks. By signing this job description, I acknowledge that I am responsible for reviewing the policies and procedures regarding the types of personal protective equipment that may be required in order to meet the responsibilities outlined in my job description. I understand that the appropriate use of this equipment is a condition of my employment and is required for my personal protection from diseases that I may be exposed to in the normal order of my duties


Qualifications

Associates Degree Nursing

BSN Preferred

Must be licensed by Texas Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Minimum 1 year RN experience preferred.

BLS - Required

ACLS certification within 90 days

PALS and/or ENPC certification within 6 months of hire

TNCC certification within 6 months of hire

Previous experience in acute critical care hospital setting preferred.
