Job Summary
The Lead Healthcare IT Field Engineer is responsible for deploying, managing, and supporting IT infrastructure and systems across a large geographic region in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and medical offices. This role combines advanced technical expertise with knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards to ensure optimal system performance, security, and compliance.
The Lead Field Engineer provides leadership to regional engineering resources, serves as a technical subject matter expert, and collaborates with healthcare professionals to deliver reliable and efficient IT solutions. This position requires frequent travel and supports both operational and project-based initiatives across multiple sites.
Essential Functions
- Leads and coordinates engineering resources within an assigned geographic region.
- Assigns work, provides guidance, and supports development of technical staff.
- Serves as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex technical and operational issues.
- Installs, configures, and supports IT hardware and software, including workstations, servers, routers, and switches.
- Ensures systems are optimized for performance, reliability, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime in clinical operations.
- Provides onsite and remote technical support for healthcare staff, resolving issues related to networks, applications, and medical devices.
- Conducts root cause analysis and implements solutions to prevent recurrence of technical issues.
- Documents support activities, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
- Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA, HITECH, and organizational security standards.
- Implements and maintains security measures such as encryption, firewalls, and vulnerability assessments.
- Conducts system audits to identify and mitigate compliance or security risks.
- Serves as a liaison between healthcare teams, IT departments, and external vendors.
- Provides training to staff on IT systems, applications, and security protocols.
- Leads and supports IT projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and migrations.
- Assists in evaluating and selecting appropriate technology solutions for healthcare environments.
- Manages project timelines, communicates progress, and ensures successful project delivery.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. (Required)
Equivalent combination of education and experience totaling four (4) years in a related field may be considered. (May be considered in lieu of degree)
Licenses/Certifications
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), CompTIA, Cisco, Healthcare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP), or other advanced certification in technology, security, or healthcare. (Preferred upon hire)
