Logan Regional

Logan Regional Medical Center is a 132-bed acute care facility in Logan, West Virginia. The hospital offers a full range of health care services in a recently expanded facility. A renovated $1.1 million Physical Rehabilitation Unit opened in 2003. A $20 million Emergency Department and Facility Renovation, completed in 2005, added approximately 42,000 square feet to the facility and renovated approximately 8,000 square feet within the existing hospital. The Emergency Department includes 22 rooms, a portable X-ray unit, a CAT scan, a portable ultrasound, X-ray rooms and three trauma rooms. The second floor includes the Women’s Center, with three labor and delivery suites, a staging area and a nine-bed nursery with the latest in safety and LDR security features. PACS Technology, which allows physicians in the Emergency Department to make consultations 24 hours a day with radiologists at other facilities across the country, has also been installed. Job Summary

The Nurse Tech/Assistant – Rehabilitation Unit assists licensed nursing personnel in providing high-quality care to patients undergoing physical and functional rehabilitation. Responsibilities include supporting patients with activities of daily living, assisting with clinical procedures under supervision, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment aligned with the goals of rehabilitation and recovery.

Essential Functions

  • Assists with patient care needs including bathing, grooming, feeding, toileting, repositioning, and ambulation.
  • Monitors and documents vital signs, intake/output, weight, and patient observations accurately and promptly.
  • Provides support during admissions, transfers, and discharges; prepares patient rooms and ensures cleanliness and safety.
  • Aids patients in use of assistive devices and equipment during therapy and mobility activities.
  • Supports nursing staff with simple treatments such as enemas, hot/cold applications, and specimen collection.
  • Responds promptly to patient call lights and requests for assistance.
  • Assists in restraint application and monitoring per policy under RN supervision.
  • Helps transport patients to therapy sessions, testing, and other departments.
  • Provides post-mortem care and prepares bodies for transport to the morgue as needed.
  • Maintains a clean and organized patient care environment and stocks supplies.  

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer literacy and documentation ability
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to function in high-stress environments and respond to emergencies calmly
  • Understands patient confidentiality and infection control standards
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role (preferred)

Licenses/Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Required).
  • De-escalation training (Required or obtained within 30 days of hire).  

Experience

  • At least six (6) months of experience in an acute care or long-term care facility (Preferred).
