Logan Regional

Logan Regional Medical Center is a 132-bed acute care facility in Logan, West Virginia. The hospital offers a full range of health care services in a recently expanded facility. A renovated $1.1 million Physical Rehabilitation Unit opened in 2003. A $20 million Emergency Department and Facility Renovation, completed in 2005, added approximately 42,000 square feet to the facility and renovated approximately 8,000 square feet within the existing hospital. The Emergency Department includes 22 rooms, a portable X-ray unit, a CAT scan, a portable ultrasound, X-ray rooms and three trauma rooms. The second floor includes the Women’s Center, with three labor and delivery suites, a staging area and a nine-bed nursery with the latest in safety and LDR security features. PACS Technology, which allows physicians in the Emergency Department to make consultations 24 hours a day with radiologists at other facilities across the country, has also been installed. Performs magnetic resonance imaging in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Operates and maintains an MRI scanner to obtain quality images for physician interpretations

Develop and maintain imaging and safety protocols and maintain all record keeping required to meet state and federal regulations
Provides specific guidance and instruction to staff on all imaging, safety and regulatory requirements as needed

Participates in education programs to meet mandatory requirements and identified needs with regard to gob and personal growth
Follows through with suggestions from supervisor or self-assessment to meet identified needs with regard to job and personal growth
Reports to work as scheduled and notifies department when unable to work per UHC policy and procedures
Demonstrates flexibility to meet the needs of departmental or hospital in regard to changes in work volume, planned change, scheduling changes and emergency call-back (i.e., weather disaster)
Perform all required diagnostic MRI scanning through proper positioning and techniques
Demonstrates ability to self-critique images
Screens patients before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination (ie., claustrophobia, pain, metal implants...). Reduce patient anxiety and ensure patient cooperation
Monitor patients within the department and address their needs or special requirements according to hospital and department policy and procedure
Able to perform venipuncture competently, in accordance with hospital policy
Willing to accept add-on patients / exams to accommodate patient needs
Maintains daily calibrations according to established policy
Ensures all metal objects are kept away from MRI suite (ie., only allows MRI safe oxygen tanks, non-metallic carts, MRI safe IV poles, etc.)
Displays proficiency in equipment technology and functionality
Will be responsible to ensure magnet room is kept clean
Works with director, supervisor, and associates to formulate, plan and implement actions that will allow the department and the hospital to achieve stated goals and objectives
Assures MRI staff members provide complete and accurate documentation which includes techniques, history and any pertinent information
Assures all contrast consents are completed
Orients all associates working in vicinity of magnet to MRI safety policies and procedures
Will work with supervisor to monitor and maintain acceptable patient satisfaction levels
While maintaining and promoting a positive work environment
Perform IV insertion/blood draws, including performing I-stat creatinine tests and documenting results properly

Qualifications

§Minimum Education
X Graduate of a Program in Discipline 

§Required Skills
Certifications:
BLS
Registration by the ARRT
Certification in MRI (ARRT).

§Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
