Logan Regional

Logan Regional Medical Center is a 132-bed acute care facility in Logan, West Virginia. The hospital offers a full range of health care services in a recently expanded facility. A renovated $1.1 million Physical Rehabilitation Unit opened in 2003. A $20 million Emergency Department and Facility Renovation, completed in 2005, added approximately 42,000 square feet to the facility and renovated approximately 8,000 square feet within the existing hospital. The Emergency Department includes 22 rooms, a portable X-ray unit, a CAT scan, a portable ultrasound, X-ray rooms and three trauma rooms. The second floor includes the Women’s Center, with three labor and delivery suites, a staging area and a nine-bed nursery with the latest in safety and LDR security features. PACS Technology, which allows physicians in the Emergency Department to make consultations 24 hours a day with radiologists at other facilities across the country, has also been installed. Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Rehabilitation Unit provides nursing care within the scope of licensure to patients requiring rehabilitative support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The LPN delivers quality care through collaboration with the healthcare team, supports recovery and mobility efforts, and ensures compliance with clinical standards and hospital policies. 

Essential Functions

  • Provide direct patient care, administer medications, and perform treatments under RN supervision 
  • Monitor and document patient symptoms, responses, and progress 
  • Assist with rehabilitation therapies and activities per patient care plan 
  • Support pain management and educate patients/families on coping strategies 
  • Report patient condition changes and consult with RN regarding care needs 
  • Perform procedures such as specimen collection and vital signs 
  • Interact respectfully and professionally with patients, families, and staff 
  • Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients 
  • Ensure patient safety and comply with infection control practices 
  • Participate in care planning, patient education, and discharge preparation 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Understanding of medications and safe administration techniques 
  • Basic computer literacy 
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Awareness of age-specific needs and rehabilitation protocols 
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned shifts 
  • Ability to assist in emergency situations and lift/move patients as needed 
  • Commitment to ethical standards and regulatory compliance 

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited practical/vocational nursing program. 

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current state licensure as a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required) 
  • De-escalation/Crisis Mgmt. training (required within time frame specified in facility policy) 

Experience

  • Minimum six months of experience in an acute care or rehabilitation setting preferred.
