Logan Regional

Logan Regional Medical Center is a 132-bed acute care facility in Logan, West Virginia. The hospital offers a full range of health care services in a recently expanded facility. A renovated $1.1 million Physical Rehabilitation Unit opened in 2003. A $20 million Emergency Department and Facility Renovation, completed in 2005, added approximately 42,000 square feet to the facility and renovated approximately 8,000 square feet within the existing hospital. The Emergency Department includes 22 rooms, a portable X-ray unit, a CAT scan, a portable ultrasound, X-ray rooms and three trauma rooms. The second floor includes the Women’s Center, with three labor and delivery suites, a staging area and a nine-bed nursery with the latest in safety and LDR security features. PACS Technology, which allows physicians in the Emergency Department to make consultations 24 hours a day with radiologists at other facilities across the country, has also been installed. Job Summary

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of practice. This includes participation in the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The LPN assists with interventions, documents care, supports patient and family education, and works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with patient assessments under RN direction
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments
  • Provide direct patient care, including wound care, hygiene, mobility support
  • Monitor vital signs and document changes in patient condition
  • Collaborate in care planning and communicate with the RN and other healthcare providers
  • Participate in patient and family education and discharge planning
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in medical records
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols
  • Advocate for the emotional and physical well-being of patients

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Critical thinking and sound clinical judgment
  • Effective verbal, written, and electronic communication skills
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines
  • Ability to manage stress in fast-paced and high-acuity environments
  • Familiarity with ICU equipment and procedures (e.g., IV pumps, monitors, ventilators)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current LPN license in the state of practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within time frame specified in facility policy)

Experience

  • Experience in an acute care or ICU setting preferred.
