Under direct supervision of a Physician/NP, provides nursing care within the scope of licensure for assigned patients according to established nursing standards and hospital/clinic policies and procedures.

  • Under direct supervision of a Physician/NP administers medication, performs treatments and patient care responsibilities as prescribed. 
  • Consults with and keeps Physician/NP informed of activities, symptoms, reactions, and changes in the patient’s condition regarding assigned patients.
  • Provides appropriate pain management techniques and educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
  • Administers medication following the five rights of medication administration within scope of practice.
  • Assists with the rehabilitation and treatment of patients in accordance with the medical plan of care, updates, and revises plan of care under the supervision of Physician/NP.
  • Assists physicians with examinations, treatments and special procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills as directed by the Physician/NP.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
  • Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
  • Responsible for patient triage, including all aspects of preliminary patient care (gathering vital signs, allergies, medications, etc.)
  • Performs venipunctures and injections (IM, SQ, ID)
  • Vaccine administration and record-keeping logs
  • Responsible for medical equipment upkeep; performs control checks as required on necessary equipment and maintains required logs.
  • Performs laundry duties as well as any other cleaning duties to ensure a safe and sanity clinical environment.
  • Medication regulation (prior authorization, gathering of samples requested by provider, etc.)
  • Prepares exam rooms and ensures they are stocked appropriately.
  • Pre-loading and abstraction of patient information prior to patient appointment
  • Scanning documents to the patient electronic chart
  • Proper patient electronic medical record maintenance
  • Works referrals and obtains authorizations as needed.
  • Fields phone messages and promptly return calls (to patients, pharmacies, etc.)
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Following provider and management directives
  • Interprets data about the patient’s status to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Participates in orientation, instruction/training of new personnel.
  • Follows Provider and management directives as appropriate.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations: 

  • Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Able to organize tasks, develop action plans, set priorities and function under stressful situations.
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
  • Must have good and regular attendance.
  • Must read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Approximate percent of time required to travel: 7%
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited program for licensed vocational/practical nurses.
  • Licenses/Certification: Current state licensure as Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse. BLS Certification required. De-escalation training is required.
  • Experience: Minimumsix months’ nursing experience preferred.
