Job Summary

  • Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals as well as other medications to patients and performs the diagnostic study per physician orders

Reports to: Radiology Director

FLSA: Non-exempt

Essential Functions

  • Administers radiopharmaceuticals and medications for patient imaging and therapeutic procedures
  • Observes Radiology Safety Guidelines
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with QA and QC
  • Ensure ordering and maintenance of supplies and materials for the department
  • Operate radiation detection devices, analog digital and/or SPECT cameras, data processing units, apparatus for in vitro counting, radiation survey meters, dose calibrators and any other pertinent imaging or counting documentation
  • Participate in the maintenance of records pertaining to the receipt, dispensation, and disposal of radioactive materials and maintain inventory of supplies in assigned area
  • Participate in nuclear medicine laboratory surveys for contamination is necessary, and to properly perform the decontamination process
  • Order, store, prepare, calibrate, and administer radionuclides and interventional pharmaceuticals.
  • Processes data and enhances digital images using advanced computer technology.
  • Provides images, data analysis and patient information for diagnostic interpretation or therapeutic procedures.
  • Evaluates images to determine the technical quality and calibration of instrumentation.
  • Processes the images for radiologist review

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an educational program in Nuclear Medicine technology accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or the Nuclear Medicine Certification Board
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology is additionally preferred

Certifications

  • BCLS required

Licenses: 

  • Current certification by the Department of Health, Desired: Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

Skills

  • Knowledgeable and proficient in Nuclear Medicine policies and procedures
