Please note: This position is based at our off-site clinic located at 320 Warner Drive – Lewiston, ID and is not at the main hospital campus.

Job Summary

  • The Clinic Medical Assistant / Office Assistant is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the clinic. This role assists with direct patient care under the supervision of a physician or nurse and performs clerical tasks to support front office functions. The position plays a key role in ensuring a professional and welcoming experience for all patients while supporting the clinical team.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with patient assessments, treatments, and procedures under supervision
  • Perform basic diagnostic tests, collect specimens, and document care provided
  • Monitor and report changes in patient condition to clinical staff
  • Maintain and stock medical supplies and clean exam rooms and equipment
  • Perform front office duties including reception, scheduling, registration, and data entry
  • Handle phone calls, patient check-in/check-out, and insurance verification
  • File and maintain patient records in accordance with privacy policies
  • Provide excellent customer service and represent the clinic in a professional manner

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and assist with patient movement
  • Manual dexterity for paperwork and clinical tasks
  • Visual and auditory acuity required
  • Fast-paced outpatient clinic setting
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, and potentially hazardous materials
  • Use of PPE in compliance with infection control standards

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant program preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant certification preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within time frame specified by facility policy

Experience

  • Minimum of one year in a healthcare or medical office setting required
  • Physician practice experience preferred
