Job Summary

  • The Manager of Imaging Services provides leadership in planning, organizing, staffing, and managing the daily operational functions of imaging services. This role directs and coordinates patient care services, technical operations, and administrative functions across all imaging modalities that may include Diagnostic Radiology, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Interventional Radiology, and Pain Management. Responsibilities include ensuring quality of care, maintaining compliance with hospital policies and all applicable federal, state, and accrediting/regulatory agencies, and supporting multidisciplinary collaboration to achieve organizational goals. The Manager oversees performance improvement, equipment functionality, safety programs, staff development, and resource allocation while fostering a culture of trust, teamwork, and innovation.

Essential Functions

  • Provides leadership and oversight of all imaging modalities and associated services.
  • Plans, organizes, and manages daily operations to ensure efficient patient flow and service delivery.
  • Assigns staff and adjusts workload in response to changing priorities and patient care needs.
  • Oversees staff recruitment, orientation, training, evaluation, and performance management.
  • Maintains ability to perform imaging procedures in area(s) of supervision; may provide direct patient care when necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital, regulatory, and accrediting body standards, including performance improvement initiatives.
  • Monitors and coordinates equipment repair, preventative maintenance, and downtime reporting.
  • Manages departmental budget, supply inventory, and resource utilization.
  • Facilitates communication and collaboration with physicians, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provides instruction and mentorship to staff and students.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors departmental policies, procedures, and safety measures.
  • Participates in quality assurance and improvement activities to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Maintains knowledge of imaging technologies, trends, and best practices to guide departmental growth and innovation.

  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally, with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to hear alarms, patient calls, and instructions from staff/physicians.
  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, radiation, and infectious diseases.
  • Potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, fumes/airborne particles, and loud noise.
  • Work may include variable hours, weekends, and on-call responsibilities.
  • Protective equipment provided and required in accordance with hospital policy.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current certification/registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or other recognized imaging certification such as the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Nuclear Medicine
  • Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within time frame required by facility policy.
  • State-specific licensure or certification obtained within time frame required by facility policy.

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years clinical imaging experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years supervisory or managerial experience, preferably in an acute care hospital environment.
