Description

Job Summary

  • The LPN provides direct patient care by utilization of the nursing process in accordance with the established policies and procedures of Southwestern Medical Center
  • Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties within the scope of practice of a LPN according to the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act
  • Participates in the planning, implementing, and evaluating of nursing care.

Service/Quality/Excellence

  • Supports hospital mission statement, philosophy, goals and objectives
  • Effective verbal, written, and computer communication skills
  • Complies with facility policies & procedures
  • Completes regulatory education requirements
  • Attends job related in-services
  • Attends at least 80% of department meetings

Qualifications

Education/

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse License issued by the State of Oklahoma or as part of a compact
  • BLS
  • PALS (or obtains within 3 months of hire)
  • NRP (or obtains within 3 months of hire)
  • NIH Stroke Annually (and obtains by end of Clinical Nursing Orientation)
  • Oklahoma Rights & Responsibilities Certificate (Medical Treatment Laws Information Act) every 2 years (and obtains by end of Clinical Nursing Orientation)

  • Maintains education and development appropriate for position

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • This position requires the use of personal protective equipment during various patient care and equipment related activities. 
  • Personal protective equipment includes but is not limited to: gloves, lab coats, face shields, masks, gowns, and safety glasses.
  • Annual fit testing for N95 use is required (see handbook for grooming policy)
