POSITION SUMMARY:

The Behavioral Health Therapist participates in observing, reporting, and recording of patient behaviors.

Responsible for providing high quality patient care, including assessment, psycho-diagnosis, treatment, planning, individual, family and group therapies and discharge planning.

Responsibilities also include helping to provide a safe and secure unit environment for all patients and staff in

compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Must possess effective communication

and interpersonal skills and ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care. Must be able

to read, write and comprehend medical terminology. Must exhibit a professional appearance. Must be at

least 21 years of age, dependable and emotionally stable. Responsible for maintaining personal and

professional growth and development.

SERVICE EXCELLENCE:

Participates in the Hospital’s Service Excellence Program designed to improve patient care, employee and physician satisfaction. Participation includes knowledge of HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Systems and Providers, which measures patient’s perceptions of care received and Core Measure Set, which measures performance of patients’, care based on medical research.

TASKS:

· Maintain accurate, detailed progress reports and records

· Monitor, record and report symptoms and changes in patients' conditions

· Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions

· Consult and coordinate with treatment team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient treatment plans

· Apply physical intervention techniques as a last resort to prevent harm to patients and/or staff

· Provide individual, group and family therapy

· Provide case management (including attendance at court hearings) and discharge planning

· Complete psychosocial assessments timely

· Maintain safety and structure of the milieu

· Referral Development

· Promotes customer service (Patients, Families, Visitors, Employees, Physicians)

· Trained to respond to medical emergencies

· Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to tolerate sitting and standing for prolonged periods in a noisy, fast-paced environment. Job also requires lifting objects up to 50 pounds, turning, stooping, and bending. Must have the agility and coordination to participate in the application of physical holds on violent patients. Requires corrected vision and hearing to within functional limits.

· Full range of motion in both arms

· Ability to grasp with both hands

· Ability to stand and walk at a brisk pace

· Ability to do squats with full involvement of both knees

· Ability to move legs and arms quickly

· Sufficient mental and physical ability to react quickly in an emergency

· Ability to bend a least 80 degrees at the waist

· Ability to push, pull, and carry at least 50 pounds

· Ability to communicate verbally and follow verbal directions

· Ability to bend arms at the elbow

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

This position does not require the use of personal protective equipment.


Qualifications

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

· Current LCSW, LPC, LBP or LMFT License from the State of Oklahoma or under supervision for same

· BLS within first week of hire

· First Aid within 30 days of hire

· MAB Managing Aggressive Behavior within 30 days of hire

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Previous Inpatient Behavioral Health experience preferred

EDUCATION:

· Post-graduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related field
