The Director of Pharmaceutical Services will provide services, timely and efficiently, at appropriate levels to all patients and in all settings served by the department. The Director of Pharmaceutical Services will also perform tasks and duties as outlined in the Pharmacy Department Policy and Procedure Manual and will be assigned additional administrative or clinically focused tasks, both basic and advanced, to be performed on an ongoing basis and in accordance with training and experience. Examples may include but are not limited to Aminoglycoside Dosing, Vancomycin Dosing, Renal Adjustments, IV to oral conversionsetc.. The Director of Pharmaceutical Services will maintain clinical competencies through participation in educational and orientation programs. The Director of Pharmaceutical Services should also be able to provide advanced clinical expertise and education to departmental staff members, medical staff, nursing staff, other members of the health care provider team, patients and consumers. Compliance with federal, state and labor laws and regulations is required.
Tasks:
Direct and coordinate activities of businesses or departments concerned with the production, pricing, sales, and/or distribution of products.
Manage staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties.
Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with board members, organization officials, and staff members as necessary.
Determine staffing requirements, and interview, hire and train new employees, or oversee those personnel processes.
Monitor businesses and agencies to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed services while staying within budgetary limits.
Oversee activities directly related to making products or providing services.
Direct and coordinate organization's financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, and increase efficiency.
Position Requirements
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Pharmacist Licensure from the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy
Must obtain 15 continuing education units annually
Education:
Graduate of an accredited pharmacy school recognized by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.
Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PharmD) is preferred, but not required.
Experience:
Five years of supervisory/management experience in pharmaceutical services including policy development, budgeting, and quality Improvement activities is preferred, but not required.
Special qualifications:
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors, physicians, and department/hospital staff members.
Computer skills essential.
Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care.
