Job Summary

  • The Physician Assistant (PA) provides comprehensive healthcare services in collaboration with a supervising physician, including medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care. The PA exercises autonomy in clinical decision-making within a defined scope of practice and delegation agreement. This role ensures continuity of care for patients, manages acute and chronic conditions, and contributes to patient education and quality outcomes.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts patient examinations, medical histories, and health assessments
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests and imaging
  • Diagnoses and manages a wide range of conditions, prescribing medications as appropriate
  • Provides therapeutic procedures including suturing, wound care, and injections
  • Collaborates with physicians and refers complex cases as needed
  • Coordinates patient care plans and monitors response to therapy
  • Triages patient calls, evaluates concerns, and provides clinical advice
  • Facilitates appropriate referrals to specialists and community resources
  • Educates patients and families on preventive care and disease management
  • Maintains complete and accurate documentation in the medical record
  • Participates in quality initiatives and data reporting
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Strong clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a medical team
  • Skilled in EMR systems and clinical documentation
  • Familiarity with regulations governing PA practice
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity for clinical procedures
  • Visual and auditory acuity to respond to patients and alarms
  • Clinical setting with potential exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and biohazards
  • Must comply with all infection control and safety policies

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (Required)
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program (Required)

Licenses/Certifications

  • National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) – PANCE Certification (Required)
  • Current State PA License (Required prior to start)
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers – BLS-HCP (Required)

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Physician Assistant (Preferred)
