Job Summary

The RN – PCS/Professional provides leadership and direct clinical oversight to nursing staff while delivering patient centered care across the department. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN - PCS/Professional coordinates care delivery, assigns responsibilities, monitors staff performance, and ensures compliance with professional standards, hospital policy, and regulatory requirements. Acts as a liaison between nursing staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes and continuity of care.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver direct patient care, including medication administration, specimen collection, and treatments
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care based on individualized patient needs
  • Assign patient care responsibilities based on acuity, procedures, and staffing resources
  • Monitor patient status and report condition changes to care teams, patients, and families
  • Support patients in activities of daily living and promote patient/family education
  • Collaborate across departments to coordinate transfers, discharges, and referrals
  • Promote patient safety and emotional well-being while maintaining confidentiality and privacy
  • Function as liaison between staff and unit director, resolving issues and communicating concerns
  • Hold staff accountable for quality and performance; support team building and mentorship

  • Constant: standing, walking, seeing, talking, hearing, using hands, pushing/pulling, stooping, reaching
  • Frequent: sitting, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Occasional: lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs, exposure to taste/smell
  • Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment
  • Frequent exposure to blood, body fluids, latex, chemicals, airborne particles, mechanical parts
  • Occasional exposure to radiation, fumes, loud noise

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current RN license in the state of practice or compact state license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – required within time frame required by facility policy
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required within time frame required by facility policy
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) – required within time frame required by facility policy
  • Professional nursing certification (e.g., RN-BC, RNC) – preferred
  • Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) – preferred

Experience

  • 1-2 years of recent acute care nursing experience preferred
  • Leadership or charge nurse experience beneficial
