Job Summary: 

To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.   

  • Properly cleans and disinfects public areas
  • Properly cleans and disinfects patient units in a timely and productive manner
  • Properly cleans and disinfects assigned outpatient departments
  • Removes bulk trash and soiled linen from designated soiled utility rooms and disposes trash in the compactor. Cardboard in the recycling compactor. Always follow universal precautions
  • Removes regulated medical waste from all areas of the hospital.  Before transporting to holding areas in the designated site, properly tie off bags and securely close lids
  • Prior to loading them in the holding area properly label the containers and stack them properly
  • Always follow universal precautions
  • Always follow all safety precautions, to include wet floor signs and/or safety tape barrier
  • Maintains all hard surface and floors in accordance with hospital program.  To include mopping, vacuuming and dust mopping
  • Sweeps, dust and mop stairwells as assigned
  • Cleans all soiled utility rooms, loading dock and housekeeping storage/supply areas as assigned
  • Understands each chemical housekeeping uses and knows how to load machine if necessary
  • Knows how to properly use and operate battery and electric equipment before using
  • Demonstrates knowledge of following safety precautions and proper techniques when assigned extensive floor care
  • Reports any problems that require work orders for building and any mechanical issues with equipment
  • Follows all housekeeping, hospital and safety policies
  • Completes and submits Daily Task Worksheet with date and task assigned and completed daily
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:  

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred

Experience:  

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
