Description

The dialysis technician will administer kidney dialysis treatments to patients. Some duties may include operating kidney dialysis machines, monitoring patients and attending to their needs and updating medical records following dialysis sessions.

The dialysis technician helps patients have positive outcomes from dialysis treatments and remain safe and comfortable throughout dialysis sessions.

Job Duties:

  • Describing the kidney dialysis process to patients and answering their questions before sessions
  • Setting up, operating and maintaining kidney dialysis machines
  • Preparing patients for dialysis and administering local anesthesia to reduce discomfort
  • Monitoring patients throughout the dialysis process and attending to any needs
  • Responding to medical emergencies
  • Updating and collaborating patient condition with nurses and other care team members
  • Recording dialysis treatment information in patient medical records
  • Adhering to policies and regulations related to infection control and patient safety and privacy
