Job Summary

Responsible for the inventorying, ordering, maintaining, processing and distribution of supplies. Works with surgery to ensure par level supply needs are met. Maintain performance and quality assurance standards.

Essential Functions

  • Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
  • Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
  • Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient need.
  • Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
  • Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
  • Responsible for supply acquisition, storage, and distribution control over inventory level in SPD.
  • Establishes and monitors stocking levels for supplies in SPD, working with staff in the SPD and OR.
  • Develops and runs reports as necessary concerning inventory activity.
  • Verifies that all information was entered and processed correctly.
  • Order, receive, and put away supplies daily.
  • Rotates stock and ensures supplies in designated inventory and par areas are in date.
  • Takes appropriate action if out of date.
  • Performs cycle counts as necessary Performs inventory counts at prescribed times.
  • Establishes locations for supplies and provides proper labeling.
  • Monitors dated supply items to prevent obsolescence.
  • Organizes supply areas in SPD.
  • Puts away unused supplies.
  • Files paper work maintained to document inventory transactions.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role. (Preferred)

Licenses/Certifications

  • None Specified Upon Hire

Experience

  • Prior Experience with inventory control or inventory management (Preferred) And
  • Prior Experience that demonstrates familiarity with and knowledge of medical supplies (Preferred)
