Summary:

Performs patient care procedures including care of wounds, removal of sutures and assistance to provider with their insertion. Applies and adjusts casts, slings and related orthopedic appliances as directed and under the general supervision of an orthopedic provider, may apply splints as a first aid measure before evaluation. Removes casts or appliances as directed.

Essential Functions:

·       Ensures that services are delivered in accordance with the hospital’s mission, values, and standards.

·       Manages inventory of Orthopedic soft goods to ensure replenishment of designated par level.

·       Greets and educates customers on product selection as prescribed by physician. Responsible for proper fitting and instructions for care.

·       Performs functional brace measuring and fitting as prescribed by physician.

·       Ensures proper completion of DJO measuring forms and insurance billing information forms for functional brace fitting. Coordinates with patients for follow-up fitting appointments as necessary.

·       Assists HME manager and local DJO sales representative to introduce new/existing products to upgrade clinic offering.

·       Validates appropriateness of requested goods/services based on insurance guidelines and eligibility requirements.

·       Initiates and coordinates appropriate intake invoice work order form request for patient equipment to facilitate bill generation.

·       Verifies insurance benefits to ensure reimbursement. Responsible for pre-authorization of claims as required by individual insurance contracts.

·       Assists the manager of HME and contract administrator to understand insurance contracts, identifies non-contracted and out of network carriers. Assists with the procurement of new contracts.

·       Coordinates deliveries of intake invoice forms to HME for billing and ensures a 99% accuracy rate for completion of patient forms.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent - Required

Experience: Minimum of one (1) year in a hospital, clinic or office. Experience with the application of soft goods/functional bracing and dealing with multiple physicians in a high volume clinic.

Certification: Board for Orthotics/Prosthetics certification (BOC) - Preferred
