The Multi-Care Technician II (MCT II) builds on foundational clinical skills to support patient care and telemetry monitoring within the hospital setting. This role assists with direct patient care activities, performs EKGs, supports activities of daily living, and functions as a Monitor Technician. The MCT II works under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery.
Performs patient care activities including hygiene support, vital sign monitoring, and assistance with activities of daily living.
Provides EKG testing and telemetry monitoring, identifying and reporting rhythm changes to appropriate clinical staff.
Assists patients with ambulation, feeding, and positioning as needed.
Documents intake and output, vital signs, and abnormal findings in the medical record.
Maintains cleanliness of patient care areas and assists with basic clerical duties as needed.
Serves as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare staff to support communication and patient care coordination.
Ability to safely lift, move, and assist patients and equipment in accordance with safety protocols.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology and computer systems used in healthcare settings.
Strong interpersonal, observation, and decision-making skills.
Familiarity with infection prevention practices and hospital safety standards.
High School Diploma or equivalent, including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role. (Required)
Completion of a postsecondary certificate, diploma, or program in one of the following:
Nursing Assistant
Patient Care Technician
Medical Assistant
Emergency Medical Technician
(Required)
Or
Current enrollment in an accredited school of nursing with completion of “Fundamentals of Nursing.” (May be considered)
None required upon hire.
One (1) or more years of patient care experience in a hospital setting. (Required)
Combination of education and training that includes successful completion of a Monitor Technician course. (Required)
