The Bradley Center of St. Francis-Emory Healthcare is hiring a Mental Health Technician nights to work in our growing psychiatric unit.We are dedicated in our goal to provide our community with the best psychiatric care in the area, and our Mental Health Tech’s have an integral role in making that happen!  The Bradley Center has been providing psychiatric and mental health services to our community for over 60 years, and we take pride in being a patient-focused community-based facility.

Our Mental Health Tech’s are responsible for the following duties:

  • Provides support to mental healthcare professionals
  • Observe and report information about patient behavior to the medical staff, including mood swings and the wellbeing of their patients
  • Listen to patients' concerns, observe their behavior, and record their condition.  Lead patients in therapeutic and recreational activities
  • Under direct supervision, provides child, adolescent, or adult patient supervision
  • Assists in the maintenance of a safe, secure environment that enhances treatment and/or educational effectiveness
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living; attends to patient behavioral problems and aids in crisis intervention if needed
  • Charts patient observations, following prescribed procedures and standards
  • Participates in the development and implementation of patient treatment programs
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient records
  • Transport patients to and from appointments, clinics, laboratories, and/or treatments, as and when appropriate
  • Attends and participates in group sessions, in-service education, and staff meetings

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Two (2) years of collegiate coursework to include general psychology, interpersonal communication, abnormal psychology, and/or human growth and development preferred

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred
  • Handle with Care Certification or CPI within 90 days of hire

Minimum Work Experience

  • One (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred

Required Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work in a busy environment and take appropriate action when needed
