Job Summary

• Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Medical Director, the Laboratory Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of laboratory personnel engaged in performing chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests
• The role ensures adherence to quality control protocols, assists in maintaining laboratory equipment, and supports the Manager in overseeing staffing, training, and compliance with state and federal regulations

Essential Functions

• Supervises laboratory personnel in performing routine and specialized testing procedures
• Develops and implements quality control programs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results
• Assists with staffing, scheduling, and training laboratory personnel
• Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, including CLIA, CAP, and TJC standards
• Monitors laboratory equipment and coordinates maintenance and calibration
• Assists in budgeting, purchasing of laboratory supplies, and inventory management
• Reviews test results to ensure accuracy and adherence to quality control protocols
• Provides technical guidance and resolves testing-related issues
• Assists with proficiency testing and ensures corrective actions are implemented when needed

• Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment and related software

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field required

Licenses/Certifications

• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by a nationally recognized agency preferred
• State license as required
• Current BLS certification
• Certification as MT or MLS preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory experience with supervisory or leadership responsibilities in a high complexity testing environment
