Job Summary

  • The Coordinator – Sleep Lab is responsible for supporting the operational and clinical functions of the sleep disorders center. This role coordinates patient scheduling ensures proper documentation and equipment readiness and assists with data collection and quality assurance activities. The coordinator acts as a liaison between physicians, sleep technologists, and administrative staff to ensure seamless service delivery and compliance with accreditation standards.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates patient scheduling and appointment confirmations for sleep studies
  • Verifies insurance coverage, obtains prior authorizations, and collects necessary documentation
  • Supports technologists by preparing lab rooms, supplies, and equipment for overnight studies
  • Maintains and tracks inventory of diagnostic supplies and durable medical equipment (DME)
  • Assists with maintaining accreditation standards (e.g., AASM) and supporting documentation
  • Provides patient instructions for sleep studies and follow-up testing
  • Collaborates with providers to ensure timely interpretation and reporting of sleep studies
  • Tracks test results, billing, and authorizations for durable equipment and therapy compliance
  • Assists with troubleshooting technical or workflow issues in coordination with the sleep technologist team
  • Participates in quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Working knowledge of sleep study procedures and terminology. Strong organizational, scheduling, and administrative skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with patients, physicians, and staff
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Ability to handle confidential information and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s degree in healthcare or related field preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required within 30 days of hire
  • Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in sleep lab operations, respiratory therapy, or similar clinical environment required
  • Familiarity with AASM standards, sleep study procedures, and medical scheduling systems preferred
