Job Summary

The Lead CT Technologist is responsible for coordinating daily operations within the CT department, ensuring accurate and timely diagnostic imaging, maintaining high standards of patient care, and adhering to radiation safety protocols. This role includes supervising CT technologists, performing advanced imaging procedures, and participating in quality assurance initiatives.

The Lead CT Technologist collaborates with radiologists and healthcare teams to deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging in an acute care hospital setting.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates and supervises the workflow of CT technologists, ensuring adherence to established protocols and patient safety standards.
  • Performs complex CT imaging procedures, including advanced protocols and contrast-enhanced studies.
  • Provides training, mentorship, and ongoing education to CT technologists related to imaging techniques, safety, and equipment operation.
  • Monitors quality control measures, calibrates CT equipment, and addresses equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of CT imaging protocols to optimize diagnostic accuracy.
  • Reviews and validates imaging results for quality, accuracy, and proper documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintains accurate records of patient care, imaging procedures, and contrast administration.
  • Collaborates with radiologists to evaluate and adjust imaging protocols based on patient condition and diagnostic needs.
  • Leads quality assurance initiatives and participates in accreditation and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Provides technical support during emergency situations, including contrast reactions and equipment-related issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of CT imaging protocols, cross-sectional anatomy, and radiation safety principles.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively supervise staff and coordinate workflow.
  • Proficiency in operating CT imaging equipment and associated diagnostic software.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-stress and emergency situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in imaging and documentation.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and maintaining required certifications.

Qualifications

Education

  • Postsecondary certificate, diploma, or program graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology. (Required)
  • Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology. (Preferred)

Licenses/Certifications

  • ARRT Radiography Certification and state-specific licensure, where required. (Required upon hire)
  • ARRT Computed Tomography (CT) Certification (RT(CT)) with applicable state licensure where required. (Required upon hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BCLS). (Required upon hire)

Experience

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in CT imaging in a hospital or acute care setting. (Required)
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in diagnostic imaging. (Preferred)
