Description

Job Summary

  • The Hospital Manager of Accounting is responsible for assisting the Controller in overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department in a healthcare setting
  • This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, compliance with regulatory standards, and the preparation of timely financial reports
  • The Manager will supervise accounting staff, manage budgets, and provide financial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making

Essential Functions

  • Oversee the general ledger and ensure timely month-end and year-end closings
  • Prepare and review financial statements, variance analyses, and performance reports
  • Monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP, hospital policies, and applicable regulations
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process
  • Manage hospital budgets and forecasts in collaboration with department leaders
  • Reconcile accounts, including bank statements, patient billing, and insurance payments
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing training and performance evaluations
  • Collaborate with other hospital departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost tracking
  • Implement improvements in accounting systems and processes to enhance efficiency
  • Ensure timely filing of tax documents and other regulatory financial reports

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Comprehensive accounting and financial reporting knowledge
  • Ability to communicate well with all levels of personnel
  • Excellent computer skills including SAP, spreadsheets and word processing

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • CPA preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1 years in a healthcare or hospital environment required
