Job Summary

The Human Resources Specialist, under the general direction of the Director of Human Resources, is an integral member of the Human Resources team at BMC. This positions’ primary function is to coordinate the flow of the Human Resources department by supporting the HR Director, Generalist, Recruiter, Leadership and Employees.

Essential Functions

  • To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Professional, effective and appropriate communication with co-worker, employees, non-employees and the general public; demonstrating customer service excellence through application of positive language principles, appropriate response and use of constructive problem-solving techniques which foster positive outcomes.
  • Handles in person and phone inquiries from employees and visitors and serving as the receptionist for the Human Resources Department.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with Bolivar Medical Center and its Human Resources policies.
  • Maintains accurate and continued documentation assuring current standards and policies are being met.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; recognition and morale; and training and development.
  • Responsible for administration of facilities badging system. Duties include but are not limited to: i.e. taking badge photos, ordering badges for printing, inputting badge information into system, trouble-shooting badge issues, and working closely with facility IT &S and Compliance, regarding door access.
  • Provide General Hospital Orientation, and all tasks related to, for all new staff and non-employees.  Coordinates with other areas for required topic/subject matter to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible for departmental filing that includes paper and electronic files for current and terminated employees.
  • Responsible for anything project related to paperless HR department as it relates to employee files; Obtaining all new or transferred employees’ required documents for personnel file.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service, projects, and committees as assigned. Acts as departmental requisitioner to order office supplies and other financial tasks.
  • Performs other reasonably related job duties as assigned or requested, within scope of practice.

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or equivalent, is required.
  • Associate Degree, Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certification in Non-Violent De-Escalation & Crisis Intervention Training, required within 90 days of hire or transfer.

Experience

  • Minimum two to four years of Human Resources or relevant business-related experience is required.
