Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the Student Nurse Aide provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Reports to: Director of Intensive Care Unit- (ICU)
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Appropriately assesses, plans, implements, and evaluate patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Job Description Report. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation under supervision of a licensed nurse. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Must be currently enrolled in an approved nursing education program and has successfully completed coursework in pharmacology, medication administration and fundamentals.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS)- Must have current BLS certification within 30 days of hire date
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
