Vaughan Regional Medical Center is the sole community provider hospital located in historic Selma, Alabama. The 175-bed Joint Commission-accredited facility employs more than 400 people. The licensed practical nurse assists the registered nurse with total care of assigned patients in the Emergency Department. The licensed practical nurse is responsible for the gathering data, reassessment, and assisting the registered nurse in the establishment of nursing diagnosis, implementation of care, and evaluation of care. The licensed practical nurse initiates health care training and education to the client/family as required while supporting and fostering the goals of Vaughan Regional Medical Center and the Department of Nursing. The licensed practical nurse demonstrates awareness of ongoing needs to other team members in maintaining optimal standards of nursing care. The position is accountable for the non-licensed nursing personnel in the Emergency Department. The position requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to insure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of Vaughan Regional Medical Center. The licensed practical nurse is responsible for providing care to all of the patient population with consideration to age-specificity and diagnosis. Reports to: Director of Critical Care Services
QualificationsRequired Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Education
Associate’s Degree Required
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
BLS/CPR is required within 30 days of hire date. ACLS and PALS must be obtained within ninety (90) days of employment if not currently certified.
Licenses: Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Alabama
