Housekeeper PRN

Practices sterile techniques and standard precautions.

Reports to: Director of EVS - Housekeeping

Helps with the cleaning of the operating rooms between cases. Terminally cleans OR and endoscopy suite end of day including exchange vents. Cleans and decontaminates all OR suites monthly including walls. Cleans Physician lounge daily.

Helps with the decontamination, assembly and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment daily in accordance with processing guidelines, and TJS and OSHA requirements.

Assists in checking all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility. Stocks the processing area as needed. Maintains general cleanliness and orderliness in the processing area daily.

Orders and maintains inventory for changing room scrub cabinets, and linen supply cart.

Must complete all education assigned and required for the position including classroom and on-line courses.

Minimum Education High school diploma or equivalent, Preferred

Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Previous experience is not required; however, previous hospital experience or nursing assistant training will be given preference.
