Description

The Regional Controller’s primary responsibility is to ensure the long-term financial solvency of the company.Assists the CFO with the development of budgets for coordinating, overseeing and regulating corporate funds and accounts, forecasts preparation, and the development of internal control policies and procedures.Will also assist with the coordination of general accounting activities, accounts receivables/accounts payable & central cash services as directed.Also, assists in directing all activities associated with Fiscal Services and general accounting systems that provide for control of assets and the generation and maintenance of a financial database.This position assists with the design, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures and accounting systems that support the fiscal activities of the organization.

Experience:

·Minimum of five years progressive computerized accounting experience preferred.

·Experience working in a Hospital/Healthcare environment preferred.

·Minimum of five years of experience in environment systems with at least three years in a supervisory or project management capacity.Hospital systems supervision experience is preferred.

Essential Functions:

·Responsible for the overall accounting functions for region of Community Hospitals and associated entities including physician practices.

·Responsible for coordinating activities for the finance department to ensure efficient and productive staff utilization, providing direct supervision to associates.

·Manage the month-end close process.

·Financial statements and statistics are accurately stated.

·Ensure integrity of balance sheet through monthly reconciliation process

·Standardize and enforce policies and procedures.

·Monitor and regulate standardized Chart of Accounts and statistical definitions for consistency and accuracy in reporting.

·Training and education within hospital and physician practice accounting departments.

·Ensures that SOX requirements, APG's and all other government regulations are being followed.

·Provide analytical support to hospital and division leadership.

·Prepares, reviews, and analyzes monthly operational budget variance reports and provides recommendations for corrective action when requested.

·Provide support in the preparation of fiscal year budgets.

·Serve as liaison with internal and external stakeholders in providing required financial reports and information.

·Prepares and reviews the monthly MOR books and reports ensuring their accuracy, integrity, and timely submission.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

·Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

·Conceptual understanding of service integration.

·Knowledge of GAAP, AP systems and general ledger systems.

·Knowledge of the principles and functions of management and leadership.

·Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems and its impact on clinical practice.

·Knowledge of the interface effects with other healthcare disciplines and systems.

·Relates to employees and physicians in all levels of hospital.Ability to effectively interact with hospital associates, managers, directors and other health team members while maintaining quality standards is a must.

·Role model for colleagues and subordinates.

·Learns and applies critical thinking, analytical and participative behavior to solving techniques and decision making.

·Effective oral and written communication skills including group oral presentations.

·Comprehends and makes mathematical computations in statistical applications.

·Working ability with word processing and other PC applications.

·Knowledge of Medicare and other third-party reimbursement mechanisms.

·Analytical, creative, adaptable, perceptive, persuasive, methodical, orderly, thorough and enterprising.

·Initiates work assignments independently without specific direction.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field. 
    MBA preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may 
    substitute for education requirements. 

Licenses/Certification:

  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant preferred. 
    Experience: 
  • Seven years progressive healthcare, financial management, and/or accounting 
    experience. 
  • Experience as Controller in multi-facility/distributed business unit setting preferred. 
    Significant site/facility/division/corporate experience. 
  • Integrated system experience.
