Logan Regional

Logan Regional Medical Center is a 132-bed acute care facility in Logan, West Virginia. The hospital offers a full range of health care services in a recently expanded facility. A renovated $1.1 million Physical Rehabilitation Unit opened in 2003. A $20 million Emergency Department and Facility Renovation, completed in 2005, added approximately 42,000 square feet to the facility and renovated approximately 8,000 square feet within the existing hospital. The Emergency Department includes 22 rooms, a portable X-ray unit, a CAT scan, a portable ultrasound, X-ray rooms and three trauma rooms. The second floor includes the Women’s Center, with three labor and delivery suites, a staging area and a nine-bed nursery with the latest in safety and LDR security features. PACS Technology, which allows physicians in the Emergency Department to make consultations 24 hours a day with radiologists at other facilities across the country, has also been installed. Description

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet and Register patients

• Verify insurance information, address, telephone numbers, email address, etc.

• Make copies of necessary documents for registration

• Review instructions given by physician and provide printed prescriptions

• Schedule appointments

 • Answer phone calls and direct patients to the appropriate person

• Make referrals to other physicians

 • Schedule testing, labs, x-rays, etc. and Prior Authorize these (if need be)

 • Scan notes, labs, x-rays into charts

 • Perform vital sign measurements

 • Perform brief initial history, pain assessment, and needs assessment

• Perform brief review of systems and history summary

 • Review medication and problem lists, and update history as needed

 • Administer IM/SC medications and vaccinations

• Demonstration of glucose monitoring

• Call in medications as instructed by physician

• Assist physician during examinations and procedures

 • Relay messages to physician, take orders, and return phone calls to patients

 • Administer nebulizer medications to patients

Performs routine clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area or office.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required Skills or Abilities Requirements:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

High school diploma

Basic Life Support 

Medical Terminology Training preferred.

Word Processing Training preferred.

Medical Assistant or L.P.N training and board certification preferred.

Phlebotomy Training preferred.

Experience in medical office, home health, hospital, or nursing home preferred.

Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Minimum Salary: $14.44

Maximum Salary: $14.44
